Flourish with us in 2021!
I have to say I think we’re all pleased to have landed in March. After two months of cold, grey days, reduced hours on site, bubbles and lockdown, suddenly it feels like there is sunlight at the end of the tunnel.
The days are lengthening and the polytunnels are warming up. This marks the start of seed sowing for us… and lots of it. Our trainees have been busy making paper pots and sowing some gorgeous sweet pea varieties which will go out to Abel & Cole customers in April as plug plants. Trainees have also prepared lots of spring bulb planters for Easter and Mothers Day. The hardy annuals are being sown ready for our new pick-your-own beds, pots of lovely autumn-sown annuals are all waiting patiently to be planted out, and the dahlias are looking at us hoping to make it into compost soon. Our team always manages to find things to do during these winter months, plus it’s an ideal time to make plans and think about the year.
Something new for 2021 – and it’s been in the planning for a while – is Flourish, our new membership group to support and grow with Organic Blooms. To flourish means to grow or develop successfully, something all our trainees do. We are always are amazed at the support we receive from the local and national community and now we would like to build a community of learning and friendship with you. For a yearly subscription you will receive a joining gift of things to use in your garden; we will then be offering a selection of membership benefits that will include: discounts on flowers, plants, pick-your-own and leisure workshops; priority booking for you and a friend on workshops; members only events; and a newsletter full of growing tips and flowers. We will be adding a Flourish members’ page on our website very soon.
