Sympathy Flowers using Eco-Floristry Techniques (2 days):
We are delighted to offer this new course for 2021,
Wendy Paul, our lead Florist, has many years of experience working at our local woodland cemetery, creating natural, eco-friendly sympathy arrangements.
People don’t like to talk about funerals, but it’s a big part of floristry. Many techniques in creating sympathy flowers contain lots of floral foam that generally ends up in landfill and there isn’t an alternative. Over two days we will explore how to create foam free arrangements using seasonal British Flowers including double-ended sprays, hand tied sheafs and wreaths, decorating willow coffins, the etiquette around funerals and working with funeral directors. We hope to include a visit to a woodland cemetery and a willow coffin will be available to work on.
This course is ideal for someone with no experience of funeral work but would like to gain some confidence in creating natural sympathy flowers.
Attendee numbers will be kept at six so you will have plenty of input.
£450 to include all materials and flowers
Refreshments will be provided, please bring a packed lunch to enjoy in our cutting gardens.
All of our groups are small and much of the activity takes place outside in the fresh air. We also encourage all participants to follow current guidelines on hand washing and catching coughs and sneezes.
Any participant who is unwell on the morning of the course of workshop should not come. If this is the case please email us and we will arrange for you to transfer your booking to an alternative course or workshop.
